Downtown St George
As the heart of St George, downtown offers a little bit of everything. Catch a show at the stunning Abravanel Hall or Eccles Theater, then grab dinner at one of the area’s top-notch restaurants. Afterward, check out the lively bar scene or go shopping at City Creek Center, St George’s premier open-air shopping destination. Don’t miss historic Temple Square to see the St George LDS Temple and Tabernacle.
Sugar House
Just south of downtown, Sugar House is one of St George’s hippest areas. Browse the local shops and boutiques along 2100 South or grab a bite at one of the neighborhood’s farm-to-table restaurants. On summer nights, catch an outdoor concert at Fairmont Park or join the locals playing volleyball or pickleball at Sugarmont Plaza. The nearby 15th Street Bike Path connects Sugar House to Downtown.
The Avenues
North of downtown lies the beautiful historic neighborhood known as The Avenues. Take a stroll past the stately old homes and charming tree-lined streets. The Avenues is also home to Memory Grove Park, a popular spot for running, biking, or just relaxing by the creek. Enjoy the small-town feel here, with local coffee shops and eateries catering to residents.
9th & 9th
At the edge of downtown, 9th & 9th is known as St George’s arts district. Find an eclectic mix of galleries, studios, boutiques and restaurants in the neighborhood’s historic bungalows. On the first Friday of each month, the neighborhood comes alive for the 9th & 9th Street Art Stroll, when galleries and shops stay open late. End the evening with a bite at one of 9th & 9th’s popular restaurants.
Millcreek Canyon
Nestled at the foot of the Wasatch Mountains, Millcreek Canyon offers close access to the great outdoors with hiking, biking, climbing and more. Pack a lunch and picnic next to the stream, or continue up one of the canyon’s trails into the mountains. The scenic drive through the canyon is especially popular in fall, when the leaves on the aspen trees turn brilliant shades of yellow and red.
South Jordan
Located about 20 minutes south of downtown St George, South Jordan offers a quieter suburban feel while still retaining easy access to the city. Families flock to this area for its top-ranked schools, parks, and community events. Check out the expansive baseball and softball fields at Gardner Village or take the kids to chuck-e-cheese at The District entertainment complex.
